OCTOBER 2025

At the invitation of UIC, the International University of Catalonia, AIUTA took part in the first international scientific seminar entitled “The New Longevity: Challenges and Opportunities” with François Vellas, President of AIUTA, Montserrat Amoros, Secretary General of AIUTA, as well as Marian Alesson Carbonnel and Nadezda Hrapkova, members of the AIUTA Board of Directors and respectively Vice-President and President of EFOS, the European Federation of Older Students. This meeting, organized by Jordi Soler, Mayor of Calonge Sant Antoni, and Jordi Mirabelle, Director of the UIC Campus Experience, stands as one of the most significant examples of the integration of universities of the third age outside major metropolitan areas, bringing them closer to older citizens. Thus, in Calonge, about a hundred kilometers from Barcelona, UIC has established a branch of the University of the Third Age, called the Campus de l’Experience, with the support of the city and municipality of Calonge. Thanks to this cooperation, an event of international importance brought together delegates from more than twenty countries who participated in this major international symposium, opening new perspectives for universities of the third age around the world.
