At the invitation of President Qiming Wang of the Open University of China, Professor François Vellas, President of AIUTA, gave a presentation at the International Conference of Open Universities of Asian Countries in Beijing from October 20 to 22, 2025. Participants from across Asia worked on the new program of open universities concerning senior education and on the experience of the Open University of China with the creation of the Senior University of China. Senior Universities are now established throughout all provinces of China and currently represent more than 40 million elderly people who wish to benefit from lifelong learning. AIUTA will work closely with the Open University of China and with Asian universities to develop universities of the third age across the region and to foster international cooperation between these universities and those of other regions of the world.
