Professor François Vellas, President of AIUTA, was received by Professor D.A.C. Suranga Silva at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and by Captain Singaraja, President of CINEC Campus in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 14 November 2025. The discussions focused on Sri Lanka’s participation, through the University of Colombo and CINEC Campus, in AIUTA activities, including the creation and development of Universities of the Third Age in Sri Lanka. Professor François Vellas was also received by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo with a view to organizing an international seminar with AIUTA’s Universities of the Third Age on the role of traditional medicine in preventing the effects of ageing. Sri Lanka benefits from one of the oldest traditional medicine universities, founded 2000 years ago. This new Sri Lankan initiative aims to promote within Universities of the Third Age the beneficial experience of traditional medical practices.
