Participants and international delegations concluded the first international conference on the development of Universities of the Third Age in West and Central Africa with a visit to the Sacred Forest of Ouidah on Tuesday, January 28, 2026. The AIUTA / UNITRA Benin International Conference led to the drafting of the Cotonou Declaration, which establishes a framework to ensure coordination among all stakeholders with the aim of developing Universities of the Third Age, in coordination with AIUTA, across West and Central African countries. Furthermore, UNITRA Benin, through the voice of its President and its two Vice-Presidents, officially announced its candidacy to host the 120th AIUTA Board of Directors meeting in January 2028, with delegations from all six continents visiting Benin and touring Universities of the Third Age in both Benin and Togo.
