The 116th AIUTA Board of Directors meeting was officially opened by Vice-Rector Fabio do Prado and AIUTA President Professor François Vellas at UDC University in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026. Rector Ferdinand Dano of the University of Economics and Business in Bratislava, Slovakia, as well as Rector Marat Syrlabayev of Ualikhanov University in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan, also spoke during this opening session in the presence of representatives of AIUTA Universities of the Third Age. The ceremony concluded with an exchange of gifts between the various delegations and the presentation of a video on the teaching and research fields of UDC University and U3A in Brazil and Paraguay.
