Representatives of Spanish Universities of the Third Age, including universities from Alicante, Barcelona, Málaga and Alto Palencia, took part in the conference and shared their experiences of how Universities of the Third Age in Spain are helping to combat the social isolation of older people. Marian Alesson Carbonell, President of the Spanish Association of Universities of the Third Age (AEPUM), invited the delegates attending the conference to participate in the next Spanish National Congress, organised by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (UPGC) in the Canary Islands on 26–28 November, focusing on international cooperation between Universities of the Third Age. Professor François Vellas, President of AIUTA, and Montserrat Amorós, Secretary General of AIUTA, will attend this important event alongside delegates from AIUTA and AIUTA Connect.
